Time Keeps on Slippin...

...in to the future!!!!
In about 30 mins it'll be September 2010. Wow. Where as the time gone? Craziness.
And hopefully in 3 days I'll be back in the E-town chatting it up with friends. But that'll come later.

Let's focus on things I've done in the past 3 weeks, back from the CO:

  • Ate food
  • Slept in my amazing Fullsized Bed
  • Went to Dentist
  • Played Sims
  • Watched TV (Clean House, Everybody Hates Chris, BB, list goes on)
  • Thought about BKD
  • Went Shopping
  • Driving
  • Facebooked/Emailed
  • Sung songs
  • Called my Brother a 'Bub'
  • Obtained Driver's License
Now let's pay close attention to this last bullet point. (sigh of relief, smiles), FINALLY! After many years of hardwork and dedication  laziness and procrastination, I got my driver's license. Now the DMV isn't a place I hate or dread going to. I woke up early this morning, went there and took the driving test. It was SO easy! I felt uber-comfortable, and everything just seemed to go right during the test , it was amazing! When I think about all the struggles I've had with this driving thing, it's pretty great to finally be able to drive w/o having my parents or adult in the car. Which I did get to do today, of course, and it's so different being in a car by yourself, I really don't have to care about how I'm driving per se, cuz I really don't care about certain things like coming to a complete stop. It makes me feel like a real adult and more in control which is great I suppose.

But the only problem is I don't have my own car. Soooooooooo, I'll probably only drive when  I come home, which is unfortunate, but hey do what ya gotta do. My mom says she's gonna try and get me a car, but who knows what's gonna happen. But I will have to get a car eventually.

As I said a few post ago, I'm really excited to get back to my last year of college! Can't believe this is gonna be it! Last year wow. I mean although it doesn't feel like it's been 4 years, I can definitely see it's been 4 years, I mean I'm not the same person, I don't hang out with the same people, everythings just different. I've been places, met tons of people, done many, many crazy things and it's just been great.

So um, that's really all I had to say, idk

Music, youtube style.

Here's some videos, all strangley involving music, some good, some bad. Enjoy!

1. Shardinay - Oh Boy - Music Video

I had this one under my favorties for awhile, but ya know I've been busy lately (translation: i ain't been doing nothing). Anywayz this is one of those BAD ones. This one just starts off bad and gets no better. And she's the "UK female singing sensation". Sensation, yeah,  I get this terrible sensation in my ears.

2. Bad Crack

From the title, I first thought this had to do with the lethal white stuff, but then you see the snapshot of a choir singing and I was like whaa. But once you hear it all make sense. I admit I've watched this about 5 times, and everytime I laughed, and cried. It's so horrible. What makes it so bad is she continues to sing. no! No! NO! NO!. I'm gonna come back to video though when I'm feeling blue and just laugh, laugh laugh (cuz you know he who laugh last, laugh last, laugh first, laugh last).

3. Jazmine Sullivan - Holding you down (going in circles)

This is one of the GOOD. Jazmnine's new single off her upcoming album, which I'll probably buy, cuz I loved the first one. I like the homage in the beginning to Mary J. Blige, cuz people say she sounds like her, I always hear Kim Burrell though, so I don't know about that. But it's catchy definitely.

4. OMG Rude Boy (Cover)

I loved this cover! The way the two songs were mixed was bomb, I kinda forgot it was two different songs. But I love it when white people sound like black people, and can do all the vocal acrobatics, and  have the soul. It's amazing to hear! Though, I can do without the guy cuz the girls kill it! I like the blonde's voice more than the brunette though. It has like a little twang to it, but still soulful.

That's all.

Read's to go...

read: red-s tah go (as in "ready to go")

Been home for sometime, almost 2 weeks, and I'm ready to head back to good ol' e-town.
It's been nice being home and all, seeing the fam, and the familarity, but I'm SO Bored.
Nothing here changes. On the surface things change, like the furniture and the fact that there's kool-aid back in the house, but it still the same folks and same interactions. Nothing has changed. which I guess is a good thing, ya know with stability and such, but at this point in my life, I've had enough of the same ol' same ol'.

or maybe it had something with me not going home doing spring quarter at NU, then coming home for like 4 days, heading off to denver, basically living by myself out there for 2 months, then heading back to Illinois, i guess where I now have to rely on people, where in denver and at NU, i'm depending on myself mostly. Which I can say I enjoy, i like the freedom the independence.

which is why I'm looking  forward to senior year so much. So much happening!
the Big Thing: Student Teaching, WHEW! as I said I'll be at ETHS, which I thinks gonna be really awesome, my mentor teachers already seem pretty awesome, although we've only communicated by email.

Next thing(s): NUMB and NCE, it's my last year with these organization and I'm really excited about both. NUMB, will have 23 trumpets this year! So excited about this. This means maybe like 8 per part, where as the past three years we had only 5 per part. Major Development! And in NCE i'll be Treasurer, even though this will be hectic position, I'm excited about it and the upcoming 40th anniversary, it's gonna be pretty awesomeness.

But with both of these organization, I'm a senior, so people are defintiely gonna be looking up to me, asking questions about stuff,  I just think it's pretty kool to finally be back at the top of the experience chain again. And plus I get to the things seniors do, ya know. Ahhh it's gonna be amazing year!

Next things: Promote 360 and Work. Unfortnately these two things fall last for me, even I love P360 so much, and I love the things we are able to do within SESP, and work I mean that's money. But I have to fit these in somewhere most def this quarter as well.

And including classes, that's a total of 6 things I'm juggling this quarter. So I think it's gonna be pretty crazy. But my guess is it's not gonna be as bad as I'd imagine. I mean one thing I learned this summer about myself I always expect the worst thing possible, but then nothing is ever that bad. As with BT, I had no idea what to expect, but I just imagine stuff being really crazy and me feeling all loner-ish and stuff, which in fact it wasn't that bad. I can say there was only a couple of times I felt really alone, but those were really random times.

Anywayz I'm looking so forward to senior year. I'm excited to be done, and I'm so glad God has brought me this far, like when I think back to freshman year, it's just amazing I made it this far. And I'm not through. More to come.

Driving, the Dentist, and Disaster

Driving
so I gotta big goal set for the next 3 weeks( my actual summer): get my driver license/.This time for real........ maybe. But on Monday I went driving after a long, long, break and surprisingly, I felt pretty comfortable and natural with it. I mean I admit I am not the best driver and I definitely need more practice, but I feel like in an emergency situation, I would be an okay driver to get someone somewhere safely. It would be pretty awesome though to have my DL before going into my senior year of college, then I guess I'd feel pretty grown. But then again it's still not that big of deal if I don't get it suppose. i mean................idk.

Day at the Dentist
Strange things happens at the Dentist office (remember this post?).

This time I go to the Dentist office and I'm walking up the window and say my name and then the assistant lady responds, "Oh I met your dad and brother already, but I hadn't met you" and I'm like "oh, really", thinking though she was just talking about my actual brother and dad.
And then I get to the dentist chair and she asks me " Do you also play an instrument?" and I'm like "yeah, I play trumpet" but I'm thinking 'How did she know that I played an instrument? My Brother doesn't play an instrument". And then something happens but she's like "Yeah I met your brother Alex" and I'm like "No, Alijah" and she's like "I'm pretty sure his name was Alex" and I'm thinking "Really lady? I know my brother's name", but then I was just thinking she just messed/forgot up his name.
But then she's like "Oh, ya know what I was thinking of another family". And then I put 2 and 2 together to get four to know she's  talking about the Francois, and she thought I was Andrew, a friend of mine from high school. And I tell her "yeah we use to get mixed up all the time". This is so hilarious because people in high school usta to call us each other all the time and some people definitely though we were brothers. I truly think it's because we were black, but then again....idk.

But just that's one thing that happened at the dentist.

so now I'm at the dentist right, getting a filling and you know dentists and people like to talk to you while they are doing stuff in your mouth (that's what she said). and my dentist is a NU alum so he's  talking about northwestern, football etc. Meanwhile I'm like making noises like "uh-uh, mmmm, etc".  But then I learn that the other dentist in the office. Dr. Lacoste was a NUMBalum, and they showed me his NU room, and it had pictures of him in band uniform, I think he's pretty old cuz those pictures were quite looked old. But it just lead me to the conclusion that NUMB is everywhere, but I really want to talk to him now just cuz he's a NUMBalum.

Clean House

Basically my favorite new show now. Started watching it some weekends ago in Denver. It's basically a show where they clean up messy houses, sell the stuff in yard sale, and give them room make-overs. The first shows I watched were the Messiest House in America, which were just crazy, I just couldn't understand how people would live in  those conditions, like it was so disgusting. But then it just made think of the saying "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" I mean I think that true, because the people who often have these messy home got messed up minds, they cling on to stuff instead of clinging on to God, so yeah I think that's true. And I've never had problems with clinging on to mass quantities of stuff, sometimes a lot of times you gotta let stuff go though. But I loved this show. Niecy Nash is hilarious, and reminds me so much of myself.

Another random thing......hmmmm I could talk about senior year, but that deserves a Whole 'Notha Post. which I probably do later....so until then hope you enjoyed this one.

Youtube Mania: Math Teacher Style

Here's some math videos I showed my students, some of them are pretty awesome, other's are lame, but that's alright with me, it's fun. Enjoy!

1. 25/5= 14

By far one of the funniest math videos ever! Cuz the guy trying to prove what we all know as division, but his mom and dad sound way more convincing with their 25/5=14.

2. Funny math class video

Not sure what movie this clip is from, but it's pretty funny, probably best, most attentive math class ever. I basically told my students to "Don't be that guy! Always do your homework". btw: the teacher is talking about absolutely nothing, just mathematical lingo.

3. Who wants to be a millionaire with Patricia Heaton

Now Patricia totally gives up as soon as she see's it a math problem, and I really can't believe it took her so long to just get to the answer. This is what I'm trying to change about people's attitude toward math. Really it's not that bad.

4.  Blind Date

OMG! probably the second funniest  math videos ever. So many references that I think just flew over all my students head cuz they had no idea about some of the things. So funny though.

5.  Y= MX + B

Possibly the lamest video ever, but you'll definitely be singing the song once you finish or trying to do the 'dance' moves. You really can't forget slope-intercept form with this video.

6.  Slope Intercept Rap

"Do your class work, do your homework!" This is my jam!

That's all. Probably last post from Denver

Movie Rambling

Way to update, Adrian! Yeah I've been kinda neglectful, but who cares this is my blog.
Anyways this is just about some movies I watched this summer.

my GS (guardian spirit, sorta like a secret santa for the summer with the Christmas aspect) got me two movies.
Wedding Crashers

I've seen this movie once, but it's cool to own it, and I didn't even have to pay for it. Vince Vaughn is SO Hilarious in this movie. it's pretty great.

Seven

I saw this film probably about 5, 10, 15 idk  years ago. Stars Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, who are detectives trying to solve a case involving the seven deadly sins, it's pretty good thriller, mystery movie. Kudos to my GS!

I also finally saw Inception,

pretty trippy movie, and amazing. You totally gotta pay attention,  I still missed some stuff even though I swear I was paying attention. I saw this move with some Breakthrough Staff members. It was pretty kool, though  it reminds me so much of  The Prestige (one of my favorite movies), with like all the different scenarios happening simultaneously,  which is funny  because both of those movies were made by Christopher Nolan, who also did Black Night, so that tells you something right there.

that tis all.
