Student Teaching and stuff

I just realized this is my first post of the new year.
I'm a lil bit late.
so HAPPY NEW YEAR.

2011 has been off to a great start. I've begun my student teaching at ETHS, and I'm really loving it.
There's so much I can talk about my student teaching so far, even though it's only the 3rd week (7 to go). One thing I love it that I'm finally doing what I've been wanting to do for so long: TEACH. Like last week, after talking with my mentor teacher about how I did in the morning. I just felt really happy. This was possibly the happiest I've been in awhile. All because I'm doing what I wanna do with my life, and not taking STUPID classes. Unfortunately I'll be back to 'college life' come spring quarter, but I'm deciding not to think about that or I'll get all depressed and stuff.

Otherwise I'm really enjoying it. The kids are great and hilarious. For instance, I've seen a girl pull a pass outta of  her bra, and a  kid chew on a wad of paper. There should be more hilarious things to come. Stay tuned. The students are really cool. I'm teaching a Geom H class, all freshman, mostly white, and 3 Algebra 2 Regular class, culturally mixed . and it's been interesting seeing the differences. Honors kids are a lot more self-motivated. Like you give them a problem and they immediately start working on it. Whereas in the other classes you definitely have to nudge them along, sometimes ya gotta do a little more than nudge. But it's an experience nevertheless. I'm enjoy the challenge. I think this is one of the main differences between regular and honors. I don't think it has anything to do with intellect but more so motivation, like who cares more about learning it seems. Not to say that regular students don't care it just seems from my experience they just don't want to anything, and this could stem from plenty of things I'm sure, especially in relations to mathematics. But anyhoo it'll be interestin seeing the difference between the classes, over the quarter.

I haven't taken over any classes yet. That comes in about 2 weeks, after the students are done with finals, ya see ETHS is on the weird system, but it works out okay for me I suppose. It's gonna be really interesting teaching though 5 classes alone because I'm currently co-teaching 4 of them, which is really great, because I can interact with the students get to know them, and instruct them as well. But it'll be interesting having that full load of classes, and having to do so much preparation, like I already know Ima be dead tired. Literally, there's like so much left to this quarter it redunkulous. But I'll get through it and be fine.

Also my mentor teachers are really great. Peter's awesome, even though he's a little reluctant about letting his class into my hands because I'm probably gonna mess them up and confuse them. But there's nothing I can really do but my best, and it's not gonna be perfect and I'm okay with that for now. Maryjoy though is also awesome, she reminds me alot of myself and we get along pretty well. She just had a baby in October so she's really more focused on him (his name is Theo, I'll get to see him Wednesday next we hopefully!) than on school when she's not at school. Which to me, is totally understandable, it just might make some things kinda of difficult to do. But as usual I'll be okay, I'm a big boy. Ummmm yeah I love my mentors, they have been so awesome.

so basically, Monday through Friday
I wake up a 6am outta the door by 640,645 because i take my shower the night before. take the cta purple line from noyes to davis.this involves me waiting usually like 5 mins which sometimes might look like this.

i then take 93 bus from davis to the school (it literally drops me off right in front of the school) then I'm at the school until about 430, 5. so it's pretty long days. Basically I'm working, without getting paid. Actually I'm paying someone else to work. It's really great. But the experience I'm  is priceless gaining in my mind.

But as I've said like a million times by now I really love my student teaching experience so far. Mainly cuz I'm doing my thug thiz.

Okay so I honestly don't know how much I will updates bout student teaching or general life problems or randomocity, prolly not much, but you'll be alright. I know.
Yes this is it.

Time Keeps on Slippin...

...in to the future!!!!
In about 30 mins it'll be September 2010. Wow. Where as the time gone? Craziness.
And hopefully in 3 days I'll be back in the E-town chatting it up with friends. But that'll come later.

Let's focus on things I've done in the past 3 weeks, back from the CO:

  • Ate food
  • Slept in my amazing Fullsized Bed
  • Went to Dentist
  • Played Sims
  • Watched TV (Clean House, Everybody Hates Chris, BB, list goes on)
  • Thought about BKD
  • Went Shopping
  • Driving
  • Facebooked/Emailed
  • Sung songs
  • Called my Brother a 'Bub'
  • Obtained Driver's License
Now let's pay close attention to this last bullet point. (sigh of relief, smiles), FINALLY! After many years of hardwork and dedication  laziness and procrastination, I got my driver's license. Now the DMV isn't a place I hate or dread going to. I woke up early this morning, went there and took the driving test. It was SO easy! I felt uber-comfortable, and everything just seemed to go right during the test , it was amazing! When I think about all the struggles I've had with this driving thing, it's pretty great to finally be able to drive w/o having my parents or adult in the car. Which I did get to do today, of course, and it's so different being in a car by yourself, I really don't have to care about how I'm driving per se, cuz I really don't care about certain things like coming to a complete stop. It makes me feel like a real adult and more in control which is great I suppose.

But the only problem is I don't have my own car. Soooooooooo, I'll probably only drive when  I come home, which is unfortunate, but hey do what ya gotta do. My mom says she's gonna try and get me a car, but who knows what's gonna happen. But I will have to get a car eventually.

As I said a few post ago, I'm really excited to get back to my last year of college! Can't believe this is gonna be it! Last year wow. I mean although it doesn't feel like it's been 4 years, I can definitely see it's been 4 years, I mean I'm not the same person, I don't hang out with the same people, everythings just different. I've been places, met tons of people, done many, many crazy things and it's just been great.

So um, that's really all I had to say, idk

Whoa! This my 200th post

of it I will make the most
by writing it in the form of a poem
with rhyming and timing sturdy as foam
I would call it the greatest you've ever seen
but that's ridiculuous and obscene.
so just continue to read in wonder,
the flow will hit you like thunder,
rattling the windows of your mind,
so you'll know this blog is one of  a kind.

200 posts in about 1 year!,
yes the blog's anniversary is near,
who would have known or even guessed,
at it's inception, in the midst of a world of mess,
coming through so clear in a sea junk,
would be the words of an afroboiii, not a punk.
Posting so many random pictures and videos,
or just general rants about spoiled milk and Cheerios,
from topics about music, movies, current events,
to NU related things, sports, and spontaneous irrelevance,
I have provided my individual view
as an Afroboiii solid and true.
It's been cool and fun,
and I'm up for another year's run
whether no one ever shall read
these words, I won't plead,
nor beg because this blog in the end is all for me
but I don't mind allowing others to see
that through it all at least,
there's no overbearing scary beast,
but just a dinner, no a feast,
serving out a big plate of

Instead of Studying for my midterm

I've found it a must-updation about this music jewel (it's my precious) I found.............
I may straight listen to this chick for 2 weeks. She's sick, in many ways unimaginable.....
don't know who I'm talking about?

I'm talking about Ledisi

If you like neo soul or  R&B seriously you should love her. She's definitely alot more jazzy, but she's
one of the few people whose every song I'm just like AMAZING. Please just go to imeem and type in Ledisi, and hit play or something......

Like usually when I'm studying, which I was, I try to play Neo-Soul music, it calms me down when I thinking about all this crazy numbers stuff, but this woman does some crazy things with her voice: the harmonies, the rythm, i mean her scatting, her expressitivity (??) craz,. That i just couldn't concentrate on my studies w/o being like "wait that lick/run was so sick!"

Like I heard of her before, but I never really looked into any of her music, really mad I hadn't earlier.
Like seriously she is a music jewel that has just been added to my favorite music list and will be continually on repeat for Lord knows how long.

Yeah just wanted to share this with you, cuz I can!
