Ramblings about Various Things

Sleeping In

(Baby Koala Bear Sleeping)
Sleeping in Today was Amazing, it was the first day since I got in Colorado that I wasn't up before 8 AM.
I woke up at 10 today, and then just laid in the bed for 2 hours: AMAZING!
Hopefully all my weekends won't be like that, but this weekend definitely I just needed to chill.

Soccer
I watched the soccer game today (the second time in my life I've actually watched one, first one was USA vs UK). Unfortunately we lost, to Ghana. It would've been kool to see them continue. What I find amazing is how things look when the do replays, they like slow it down and zoom in, and it's like totally crazy like all the positions their bodies be in. Soccer is definitely no joke, physically. But this is:
 (hahaha)

Weather
It's been kool being out in here in Colorado. Today was the first time it rained since I've been here. All the others day were HOT and sunny. But it's actually really really beautiful, esp. the campus the school is on. SO pretty. I hope it stays that way, although I do need a little rain every now and then in my life.

Persons Unknown

But um, oh, I wanted to talk about this new show called Persons Unknown, airs on NBC on Mondays. It's about this seven people who get like kidnapped and sent to this ghost town. they basically are trying to escape, but they have no idea why they are there, who it is that's watching them (there's camera's everywhere). And they tried to escape many times, but they were all unsuccessful. I like the story, but not so much the acting, especially the main character lady, SO BAD.

Also another problem in like the first two episodes (there's only 3 so far), the main male is white (no surprise) but he was like seen as the leader, he was doing everything to help them escape, and the black guy (who is a soldier) was kinda like his 'slave', from my point-of-view, cuz he was like yes sir I can do that (no exactly, but you'll have to watch it to get what I'm talking bout), but I figured that was coming from him the army thing, which in a way slavery sorta. Also the black guy is Muslim, which I thought that was interesting. There's also this blonde chick, who I think was like drunk when she got kidnapped, which was kinda funny. Then there's This CRAZY lady, she was like in the psychiatric place, the rich guy, and the sketchy-looking guy. But um I'll be watching this hopefully every week. or at least catching up on the weekends.

Big Brother
Speaking of shows, Big Brother (I can't believe all last summer, I updated about that) is coming back on july 8th, don't think I'll be able to keep up with the episodes during the week, hopefully I'll be able to watch it on the weekends. There's no info on the houseguests or the house yet, there will definitely be something by next week.

Okay that's it, I don't feel like typing anymore.

Youtube Mania!!

*Live from Denver, I bring you Youtube Mania!*

1. Lauryn Hill--- Doo Wop live @ Harmony Festival 2010.

Lauryn hill is back?! I really hope so and this video gives me that hope. This is my one of my favorites Lauryn Hill songs (I think I've talked about this song before) it has a message, not to mention it sounds pretty awesome.

Now, I'm not sure what she's wearing, but I'm sweating just looking at her, but um I like her hair. apparently there was this 'big' thing about her straightening her hair on mediatakeout.com. i mean, c'mon, people change hairstyles whatev. but I hope she's actually back, cuz that would be kool.

2.  Ron Artest Final Speech

Laker's won NBA championship. Boo. I guess I was rooting for the Celtics. Anyway Ron Artest embarrasses himself. why?
a). he didn't answer the question she asked.
b). "I wanna thank everyone in my hood" ???!??!
c). thanking your psychiatrist? i don't need to know that.
d) you got a single coming? NO. Stop, I've heard your MJ tribute.

3. Praise song and dance

I saw this video earlier in my life. About 3-4 weeks ago. Not sure why I didn't post it here then cuz it's all kinds of wrong.
Here's a couple: that lady need to get on some kinda key and stay there (although she sure can belt). The ear microphone thing that the man wears annoys me. And the dancer. well, there are no words. only stares.

From the reaction of the crowd, though, it seems somebody was blessed, which I guess is the only thing that really matters.

Only 3 videos, I know. what do you expect? I'm in Denver, trick!

Changes, Movies, and Such

It's been great being home for a couple of days. Just relaxing, actually being able to watch TV, chatting with family, laughing, makes me wish I kinda wasn't doing anything this summer, but hey...

there's been a couple major changes in the home though (none of which you probably really care about)
  • different living room furniture  like the couch, entertainment thingy, curtains, just different
  • my room's got another addition first it was the treadmill, now I got a different dresser thingy, not to mention my bed is no longer against the wall, and I don't have a headboard, kinda hard to sleep
  • and no KOOL-AID! it's like a sin against being black or something; I just can't see home w/o kool-aid, they trying to be healthy and stuff just drinking water. can we at least get some juice?
There's other changes but they're not so  significant i suppose.

but I guess all these changes don't matter cuz I'll be leaving in two days. Which I am so excited about it. I don't really know what to expect, cuz its a place I've never been and around people I don't know. it's just Unknown and unfamiliar territory. But I'm excited. I'll get you updated (I'll get around to making that other blog, Afroboiii in Colorado?!, in a couple days probably after I get there, I don't know how do it. as soon as I know you should).

While I was home though, watched some movies ( I actually started watching a couple Face/off & X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but I couldn't get into them, Wolverine is probably good just didn't feel like getting into. Face/off just looked dumb so..)

I did watch these though

Master of Disguise
with Dana Carvery. I watched it with my brother (that lil munchkin). I hadn't seen this movie in a while, it came out in 2002. but it was pretty hilarious. 'I am not turtely enough for the turtle club' finally made sense, and the villian guy farting everytime he laughed evil(ly) was SO funny. the Story was booty of course, but they didn't intend on being serious or having a good plot at all. I Loved it though.

Norbit
with Eddie's Murphy(s). This is old time fav, probably seen it a bijillion time before. Still hilarious, but I guess I started thinking what really makes being that fat so funny. It's really kinda offensive I suppose. and like  at that u need to lose weight, not making a mockery of yourself.  But it is kinda more of the character, then again i'm not sure.

Why Did I Get Married Too? (on bootleg)
Yes, on bootleg. My parents hadn't seen it either, so we had to get the bootleg to watch it. So this Movie. Definitely not one his (tyler perry) best. I believe it wasn't that great because this was (basically from my persepctive) in reaction to his mother's death. I guess he didn't want to think about, and he had to keep working to get his mind off it. The movie definitely needed some more work (esp the ending). This movie was really crazy though, and alot random stuff happened, but definitely not as good as the first one.

alright
next post will probably be in Colorado

Taking a Break...Again

From studying for this last final of my junior year, Geometry,
just to reflect on this school year.

one word, well three, okay let's just not do that.

but if I could describe this year briefly:
Awesomeness. So much better. Stressful, but fun.

I went  through ALOT this year (the Butt catastrophe incident, this research methods class, this quarter in general, and other stuff I probably blocked from my memory cause they were so mean and evil)

but I had alot of good times that come to mind instantly (staying at heather's for b-day celebration, drumline serenade, my 21st birthday, alamo bowl, NCE concert w/ D Lawrence, Dillo Day, and so many other times of laughter and joy)

I also feel like my people network increased tons-ly (<---yeah i making up words) this year. I just kinda remember myself as a freshman coming in & not knowing anybody, and even by the end of my freshman I still really didn't know anyone, but now a day barely goes by with me running into people I know, stopping and having mini update sessions. so it's pretty awesome. it just feels like I'm finally coming into that senior Northwestern-expert-y role thing.

I really do think this was the best year yet, and I just can't wait to see the craziness, stress, and laughter that senior year brings.

**********
Breakthrough Updates.

  • I just realized also this time next week, I'll be in Colorado, finishing up my first day with Breakthrough. So excited!
  • I Finally did find out my housing, I'm staying the Clarks (that's basically all I know).
  • I'm probably gonna blog about my Breakthrough experience so I can keep everyone updated, it probably won't be here though, I'm thinking about making a whole 'nother blog just for it. That said don't know how much I will update here in the summer.

that's all

Simply Updating

nothing special.

3 years
junior year coming to a close. 3 classes down, 1 more to go and its the 'important' one (i suppose), math,
i actually feel i should actually start studying now, math hasn't been so great this quarter. but we'll see.
i think its gonna be weird though being a senior, I kinda feel like I just got here, well I mean I can remember my first visit to this campus, and all the nervousness & anticipation I felt because I was finally going to college. and i guess it's just now hitting me there's only one year left and like everyone will be looking to me as the example and a leader......yeah, but I'm so GLAD this quarter is almost over, and  I made it through (THANK GOD)...

This summer
Breakthrough in Colorado is official. I booked my flight the other day ($300+, omg!). But I'm excited for this opportunity, and I'm looking for an active and stressful summer, which is totally opposite of every other summer of my life, seriously. Yeah, I'm kinda nervous about finally teaching cuz I don't know what to expect, but I know whether good or bad, it'll be a great experience. And I'll be helping the childrens which is good always.

GFest
Just came from the Gospel Fest 2010. It was kool. I saw 'lil bit of Kathy Taylor. All of Byron Cage and Hezekiah Walker. It was pretty kool. I personally felt though their sets weren't long enough. It just felt like they did five songs and were done, but hey can't really complain it's free, well i suppose it comes from taxes. I'm going again tomorrow, Richard Smallwood & Fred Hammond will be, it should be awesome.

Homesick
Other than that things going pretty well. I really want to go home soon, I haven't seem my family in over 2 months! and I just miss them extremely, even though I guess it doesn't seem like since I never really go home. I guess though I gotta kind of get used to not seeing them, I mean I'll be starting my career pretty soon & there's no telling where I'll be teaching...

speaking of which,
Career Backup Plans
1. my elaborate plan to move to the U.K. for 10yrs gain a British accent, come back to the states open up a bar and D.J.
2. CTA bus/train driver
3. Backup Dancer
4. Run for Vice President w/ Kira (La)Frank for Prez.

most of these r jokes, but I guess I should seriously be thinking about a backup plan just in case teaching doesn't work out (for some strange reason), but I really don't know what else I would do.

okay I'm gonna end here
or I'll continue for ever probably..
