Read's to go...

read: red-s tah go (as in "ready to go")

Been home for sometime, almost 2 weeks, and I'm ready to head back to good ol' e-town.
It's been nice being home and all, seeing the fam, and the familarity, but I'm SO Bored.
Nothing here changes. On the surface things change, like the furniture and the fact that there's kool-aid back in the house, but it still the same folks and same interactions. Nothing has changed. which I guess is a good thing, ya know with stability and such, but at this point in my life, I've had enough of the same ol' same ol'.

or maybe it had something with me not going home doing spring quarter at NU, then coming home for like 4 days, heading off to denver, basically living by myself out there for 2 months, then heading back to Illinois, i guess where I now have to rely on people, where in denver and at NU, i'm depending on myself mostly. Which I can say I enjoy, i like the freedom the independence.

which is why I'm looking  forward to senior year so much. So much happening!
the Big Thing: Student Teaching, WHEW! as I said I'll be at ETHS, which I thinks gonna be really awesome, my mentor teachers already seem pretty awesome, although we've only communicated by email.

Next thing(s): NUMB and NCE, it's my last year with these organization and I'm really excited about both. NUMB, will have 23 trumpets this year! So excited about this. This means maybe like 8 per part, where as the past three years we had only 5 per part. Major Development! And in NCE i'll be Treasurer, even though this will be hectic position, I'm excited about it and the upcoming 40th anniversary, it's gonna be pretty awesomeness.

But with both of these organization, I'm a senior, so people are defintiely gonna be looking up to me, asking questions about stuff,  I just think it's pretty kool to finally be back at the top of the experience chain again. And plus I get to the things seniors do, ya know. Ahhh it's gonna be amazing year!

Next things: Promote 360 and Work. Unfortnately these two things fall last for me, even I love P360 so much, and I love the things we are able to do within SESP, and work I mean that's money. But I have to fit these in somewhere most def this quarter as well.

And including classes, that's a total of 6 things I'm juggling this quarter. So I think it's gonna be pretty crazy. But my guess is it's not gonna be as bad as I'd imagine. I mean one thing I learned this summer about myself I always expect the worst thing possible, but then nothing is ever that bad. As with BT, I had no idea what to expect, but I just imagine stuff being really crazy and me feeling all loner-ish and stuff, which in fact it wasn't that bad. I can say there was only a couple of times I felt really alone, but those were really random times.

Anywayz I'm looking so forward to senior year. I'm excited to be done, and I'm so glad God has brought me this far, like when I think back to freshman year, it's just amazing I made it this far. And I'm not through. More to come.

Wavin Flag

So I had to play my trumpet this summer,
I played the FIFA Official Song Wavin Flag by K'naan  (how do you say that?).
I played the song for Breakthrough Olympics.

But anywayz this song is my jam now, mainly because I had to listen to it 40 bijillion time to make sure I had the notes and rhythm down.

Speaking of soccer, Spain won (I really didn't care either way) but I was kinda rooting for Netherlands because of Susanne (friend from Holland). I can't believe I watched that whole game, not one whole goal until like 5 mins before they were going to have to penalty kicks. What a slow game. I'm glad for Spain though, good for them.

Big Brother is back!!! Season 12!

I'm seriously considering trying out for this show after I graduate college. It would be kool.
This season there's one though black girl, but she's mixed, and basically has the same skin tone as some of the white people, Diversity big brother! There is a jew though. The big twist this season though is the saboteur, someone is giving up their chance to win half a million dollars to sabotage the houseguests. I think they have to last until the fifth week. I don't know who it is yet well find out on Thursday. The show comes on Sundays, Wednesday, Thursday, I definitely won't be watching it Wednesday, maybe sometimes Thursday so we'll see how this goes this summer.
----------------

Also check out this video of NCE, took this a while to come out since we recorded it, but it still timely, because of 40th year Anniversary. You can see me throughout.

hey blog world...

i guess I'm kinda back...
but don't really rely on that statement until.........idk Christmas?

I got my laptop back last week Thursday
it turns out my motherboard was all messeded up
so they just replace that. and now it works (THANK GOD!)

I'm just really happy I got it back before my final week of Crap-tackular-ness..
Here's the run down:

  • 10-12 page paper due on Tuesday 16th
  • 3-5 page paper due on Wednesday 17th (no bad right?, but it like over a movie so I have to watch the movie...)
  • Final Project due on the Thursday 18th  (w/ like a Listening Journal)
  • Math Final on Friday 19th
and even before this I still have a project and quiz this thursday and tons of other stuff I would like to do; but that  I might not get to do...which is kool...cuz such is life. i guess.

other than school,
NCE concert was yesterday!
it was so awesome! I had such a good time!
I love NCE so happy to be apart of such a legacy...
and I'm excited to see what gon happen next year..

Donald Lawrence was amazing also!
it was just a good night overall.
I'm kinda glad it's over though,
I won't have to worry about that publicity stuff no mo' (no mo', no mo')

but once I make it through finals week,
I'm heading back to the Kank,
chillin in my bed, watching tv, eating corn chips, staring at the wall, pickin my nose, cleaning out my belly buttons. and possibly just possibly actual breathe...

that tis all.

First Day without a laptop

= Success?
I don't know, but it DOES equal me spending plenty of time in the MAC computer lab in the basement of the NU library.

So my computer's ackin stupid, well basically its not working, which is a problem, funny thing is.. it was working fine ( i guess) then like two hours later, completly not working (<--so descriptive). That's technology, gosh darn it!.
It basically comes on, well at least the lights, and then it turns off, and comes on again, each time it seems to be working harder to turn itself on. And that whole time nothing comes on the screen.

I thought I would freak out alot more than did, because I knew inevitably this would happen. i mean it like happens to everyone's computer. But there was a peace of sort,you know. I just automically knew I have to go to the library for everything or borrow someone else's laptop. I guess I've come to the sad realization there is not almost constant Facebook/Email/Blog checking. Which makes me think God is trying to tell me something, what? I don't know. but yeah.

The only real thing I was upset about was that I don't/didn't have access to my NCE stuff, i.e. the flyers I am working on for the concert. Hence I spent a majority of my day redoing the flyers. They're totally different, to some degree, than my original concept, but It's all good. I Like them (smiley face).

I guess there's some good to come out of this.
I'm shocked that I am about to type these words,
but I think the next time, probably within the next two years, when I buy myself another laptop
it will probably be a mac. (ouch, the apple has gone threw the window..think about it).
Maybe it cuz I spent the whole day in "MAC land" or maybe it because I actually understand how to use one more now. And maybe because somethings are easier, definitely not everything though.  but yeah I might.

wow, I typed a lot.
well not that much
Anywayz have a great day/week/month
until the next time I update,

How you doing? (Wendy Williams' voice)

Response: I'm doing good....so many things to update about.....

Let's make it a LIST!

-I feel back, I feel like last week I was kinda outta it, but now I feel back.

- I finally, Finally, got to the white post-it notes in my post-it notes stack!!!! OMG!

- Dreamgirls, the Musical, is coming to Chicago, and I'm going to see it tomorrow. so excited. I love the movie even after watching it everyday for a whole week when it came out on DVD. Ever since I saw it  wanted to see it on stage. Ah. Unfortnately Jennifer Hudson nor Beyonce will probably be in it, but hey.

- NU Basketball. On Past Saturday we won against #6 Purdue, Awesome Game! Unfortunately we just lost against #21 Ohio State. The 'CATS are now 13-5 total and 2-4 in the Big Ten. Will we make the Tourney this year? Only God knows.

-MLK Day. Was good, it basically took up my whole day. NCE sung for the morning service, with Ramsey Lewis,who was pretty awesome at the piano (although he talked a little too much). Then I went and saw a staged reading of Palmer Park, a really interesting play about interaction of white and black families in Detroit, even though not the full play, it was just as powerful. Then after a quick bite to eat and nap,I attended the Candlelight Vigil.
It's kinda of Sad that most students don't really participate in the events, but I doubt I would've participate much if I wasn't in the choir. soooo I totally understand.

-Little Shop of Horrors. Did not tryout. I know, right.
I'm gonna be so mad at myself in 2 weeks or maybe not. It's alright I definitely have to check the musical out, or I'll be really sad. yeha.....

so that's my life, things are going  towards the line of hectic(ness) really soon, but you know I'll be alright, I did it for 2 years. Bring it Junior Year.....

What's up, Peeps!

It's none other than me....
the Master of Space and Time Continuum (wait, isn't that Hiro from Heroes?....)
THE secret Kung-Fu Ninja (shhhhh don't tell anyone, it's a secreet),
representing for all my gangstas that be hustlin' (......ummmm no...)...

another week has gone by and I'm still here at NU, waiting for Thanksgiving, which is
gonna be awesome, cuz I haven't seen my family in forever, and it'll be nice to get some food I love, and by some I mean TONS....but yeha.....

Guess what?! 'CATS WIN! we're now 7-4, which means warm bowl (YES!)..........this weekend we play Wisconsin.........not sure what will happen, but we shall see, as per usual...........

NCE concert went pretty well (Praise God). I definitely enjoyed myself, and the choir know they was getting it.
Thank God I'll be in it next quarter, or I would just be so depressed........well not really, but ya know......

now I'm just rambling with random things that pop into my head. actually I'm not cuz I'm done here........
yeha....
that's it.

Hey......so Wednesdays

YOU SUCK!
Major Bizalls, and such.............
and by such I mean HUGE, GIGANTICA, MAJOR BIZALLS......

yeap. but now that I'm past that, let's move on.

A funny thing about Wed-nes-days is they are like my busiest day of the week,
but they are like the only time I have to update my blog during the week at least.
Weird, huh? (you probably really don't care so whatev).

so just to let you know,
there's a concert this sunday, by the one and only
NCE (Northwestern Community Ensemble), NU's only gospel choir.....

yeha here's the flyer

(dude I can't help it I'm publicity chair, i just have to publicize everywhere basically)

Yeah so that's this weekend.
~~~~~~
Also this weekend. NUMB is traveling to the UofI's to support the wildcats as they fight (in football) against the illini.
should be exciting, especially if we win, cuz that would be major good for our bowl possibilities.
so we'll see.
*fyi I freaking hate champaign (it should be spelled champagne),  UofI, the illini, the color orange, and dare I say indians ( and by indians I mean native american)............*
~~~~
oh on sunday, I saw Precious

starring this chicka

(her name is Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe)

Monique, Paula Patton, and Mariah Carey,

pretty much it's about a 16,17 year old girl (woman?) who's life is basically jacked up on so many levels (I'm FO serious).
I Can't really type all that stuff here, cuz then I start thinking it & about her sit-eee-ation and I just like lose it (and by lose it I mean cry like a big fat babby).

I think people should def see it, it opens your eyes to the possibility that people actually have lives like these, and it seriously makes me Thank God that my life is not like that AT ALL....

um yeha funnier post thingy coming later........

Youtube Mania: The Gospelized Verison.

seeing as how it's Sunday and everything
thought this would be befitting....mmmm
yeha check him out.

============================================================
1. NU MLK Day 2009 Celebration with Mavis Staples Pt. 2 of 4

I'm in a choir at NU. NCE (Northwestern Community Ensemble) we call it. In the later half of the video its us singing "Thank you Jesus". Remember, this was the day Mavis Staples touched my hand. And if you look at the related video she touches my hand first, yes, there is evidence. But anywayz check it out.

2. EVELYN TURRENTINE-AGEE

Who did it? GOD DID IT! Love this song! My mom recently got the CD (like yesterday). This video was apparently at some gospel legends thing. I saw this on tv once, i think. I'm going have to come back to it though. *btw, I see you Kirk Franklin!*

3. Gospel Choir Song - I Love to Praise Him

Okay so this may not be the best version of this song, but I had to add this video for the marching in. That's usta be the coolest thing to me. I love when I could marching in.

4.Howard Gospel Choir - "Song of Praise"
Many a day I find this song in my head, even though I don't really know the words. Howard does a great job with this. Like amazing.

Here are some others couldn't find a video of but love them nevertheless.

They Didn't Know by Kurt Carr (amazing song)

A Spiritual Medley by Sounds of Blackness (crazy good)

Anthem of Praise by Richard Smallwood (yes)

could definitely added more to this list. but it would become extremely long.
anywayz that it.
God Bless!
